Katharine, Violet Flame Reiki Master at Rhubarb and Roses

About me

I'm a mother, artist, art teacher, flower farmer, and Reiki practitioner based just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia in Waverley. I grew up in the USA with parents who had me in the garden from the time I could walk — 'it's just good clean dirt' was one of my father's favourite sayings.

I studied Studio Art and Anthropology in college, ran the student garden on campus, and spent time on organic farms and a vineyard before earning my Master's in Art Education. My early love of nature has always fed my art, I noticed the details and colours in flowers and plants, and wanted to capture that beauty.

At age 17, I suffered a traumatic brain injury that led me, eventually, to Reiki. After years of physical and psychological rehabilitation, I stumbled upon the practice and it felt right. I received my first attunement in the Usui tradition, and 19 years later I became a Violet Flame Reiki Master. Healing myself through Reiki was profoundly empowering, and it opened me to my psychic gifts. I am clairtagent, meaning I receive guidance and messages through touch.

Rhubarb & Roses is my way of sharing both of these passions with you — beauty and healing, in one place.
